‘WHAT ABOUT YOU?’ DAY 1: BARKINADO BOCOUM

How do YOU see yourself? And how do YOU want to be seen by others? These questions are addressed in the work of Senegalese artist Bocoum. What is the role of the media and the different truths people send into the world through social media? What are the different perspectives that one can communicate and how does one communicate what one sees or hears to others?

Bocoum (1978) lives and works in Dakar and has taken part in workshops and residency programs both locally and internationally. He has exhibited internationally including in Senegal, Mauritania, France and Austria.

These works are part of an online pop-up exhibition of contemporary African art ‘What About You?’
